Community Engagement
Community outreach and engagement in the sciences are central to the College of Integrative Sciences's mission of connecting academic excellence with a broader public purpose. Recognizing that scientific literacy is crucial for a thriving society, Wesleyan extends its educational impact far beyond the campus grounds. Through a variety of programs, partnerships, and volunteer initiatives, our faculty and students actively work to inspire curiosity and foster a love for discovery, particularly among local K-12 students. From hands-on workshops and engaging community events to mentorship programs for high school students, these efforts are designed to make complex scientific concepts accessible and exciting for kids and teens. This commitment to sharing scientific knowledge not only enriches the learning experience for Wesleyan's own students but also strengthens the university's role as a collaborative partner in building a scientifically informed and engaged citizenry.
